Parabola

Cone sections occur in physics not only as the orbits of celestial bodies:

This exhibit consists of a rotating transparent cylinder, which contains a basin with red liquid. You can push it hard to make it rotate around its own axis so that the liquid is pushed to the edge. Here, too, a conic section is formed: You see a nicely curved parabola.
