Tower of Ionah

The Tower of Ionah (based on the Tower of Hanoi) is a puzzle and patience game:

You see three holes in front of you. Two of them are empty; in the third hole there are five discs, arranged according to size, the smaller ones at the bottom. The aim of the game is to stack all these five discs into another hole, following the rules below:

  • You may only move one disc at a time.
  • You can never put a smaller disc on top of a bigger one.

How many moves do you need at least?
